TIGNISH -- Tignish Recreation Director, Karen Doyle is scheduling a cleanup of the community’s ball fields for this weekend and is inviting residents to help out. The cleanup will be Saturday morning, starting at 10 a.m.

Doyle informed the May monthly meeting of Tignish Council that baseball, soccer and softball will be starting soon and that registration numbers are good. A women’s slow pitch league and an orthodox league will also be getting underway shortly.

The recreation office is assisting with the hosting of the annual IWK Festival in the Park, which will be happening on Sunday, May 25. Last year’s rainy weather forced the festival into the Credit Union Arena and organizers were so pleased with the result that they have decided to hold it in the arena again this year.
