Several people who saw a young person going through a vehicle parked in the Murray River area Saturday took matters into their own hands.
The concerned citizens chased the teenager and held him until police arrived. This incident occurred after a number of vehicles in the area had had small items and small amounts of change taken from them in recent days.
A 17-year-old Murray River youth will appear in Georgetown Court on May 22 to face numerous charges related to the thefts from motor vehicles, which occurred in the Murray River area between April 30 and May 3.
Only vehicles that were left unlocked were targeted, say Kings District RCMP, who responded to the call Saturday. "We would like to remind the public to not leave valuables in their vehicle, and to lock their doors when the vehicle is unattended."
