SUMMERSIDE – The adage no good deed goes unpunished was never truer than on Route 2, Thursday afternoon.

A Chevrolet Uplander van, being driven easterly by a woman along Route 2, slowed as she approach the roundabout outside Slemon Park to allow a mother fox and her kits to cross the roadway. Two vehicles travelling behind her did not stop in time resulting in a three-vehicle rear end collision.

According to police at the scene when the van slowed it was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Cobalt L5, which in turn was struck from behind by Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Chevrolet Uplander sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene of the accident. Both the Chevrolet Cobalt and Hyundai Santa Fe received substantial damage and had to be towed.

Neither the woman driver, the two male drives of the other vehicles nor the fox and her kits were injured.
