MILL RIVER -- Trophies and prizes are up for grabs by the three fishermen who catch the largest trout in the sixth annual Roy Chaisson Memorial Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 10.
Derby organizer Nadine Chaisson said participants may cast their lines on any stream where fishing is permitted, but they must attend weigh-in at Long Creek, along the Mill River, by 4 p.m. May 10 to be eligible for prizes. A rod and reel will be awarded to the fisherman who catches the heaviest trout.
Participants can register in advance by calling Chaisson at 882-3317 or 856-9020 or in person, at Long Creek. Chaisson will be set up at Long Creek by 4 a.m., providing canteen service including breakfast on a bun. The derby registration fee is $10 per person and all proceeds go to the IWK Childrenâs Hospital.
