SUMMERSIDE - A 22-year-old Borden-Carlton man was fined $200 after pleading guilty in Summerside provincial court to a charge of theft.

Prince County Court House

Christopher Melvin Duguay was charged in connection with the theft of a pint of vodka from the Borden-Carleton liquor store on March 1.

The theft was discovered after staff realized there was a shortage of stock.

A review of the store’s videotape showed Duguay taking the pint bottle of vodka, placing it in his pocket and leaving the store without paying for the liquor.

Police went to Duguay’s residence where he admitted to the theft.

The liquor was not recovered.

In addition to the fine, Duguay was placed on probation for one month, ordered to pay a victim fine surcharge of $60 and make restitution in the amount of $14.75 for the vodka.
