Earth Day celebration early on P.E.I.

Sierra Club P.E.I. has announced the final line-up for the 2014 Charlottetown Family Earth Expo, which takes place Monday, April 21 at the P.E.I. Farm Centre from 12-4 p.m.

Organizers and sponsors of the Family Earth Expo on April 21 at the Farm Centre include, from left Tony Reddin with the P.E.I. Sierra Club, Adam MacLean with the P.E.I. Farm Centre, Catherine Bailey who will host art activities, Karen Murchison with the City of Charlottetown, Doug Bridges with sponsor provincial Credit Unions and Jordan MacPhee, music and displays organizer.

The fourth annual Expo celebrating Earth Day will be a free admission, all-ages event with seed planting, display booths, an art show, family art and science activities, face painting, music, electric vehicles, food, and speaker presentations on environmental action and awareness.

"We invite everyone to come share in expressing and learning about lifestyle changes and technologies that can lead to a greener P.E.I.," says organizer Jordan MacPhee.

"We will have a great variety of fun and interesting activities for all interests, including over 20 information booths and presentations on sea plants, energy, orcharding, bees, cosmetic pesticides, foxes as well as P.E.I. Heaven on Earth."

At the Let's Talk Science tables with Laura Phelan and UPEI volunteers, participants can make and decorate pinwheels as well as get information on windmill projects.

Thre's also an eggshells and acidification activity, where solutions of varying pH show the effect on the shells, and thus illustrate the effects of ocean acidification.

Confederation Centre library will have a book ten' again this year and Josh Zaph will perform his Story Theatre at 1 p.m.

Starting at 12:30 p.m., there's music by Mike Pendergast, Teresa Doyle, Jordan Cameron and the Fresh Air Inspectors (Marcus Lutterman and Gary Torlone.
