Police observed open liquor in vehicle

An RCMP checkpoint in Stratford succeeded in identifying and arresting an impaired driver Saturday evening.

Queens District and Stratford RCMP were conducting the checkpoint on Bunbury Road in Stratford. Police observed open liquor in the vehicle of a lone, male driver when he arrived at the checkpoint.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the individual for Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle. He was transported to the Maypoint Detachment, where he registered alcohol readings well over the legal limit.

The man was released with a court date of June 2, 2014.

Queens District RCMP continue to combat Impaired Driving on Island roads as one of their yearly priorities. The RCMP thanks the general public for assisting with the effort by reporting concerns about impaired drivers.
