Probation breach nets man jail time

SUMMERSIDE – A 22-year-old Summerside man was sentenced to three days in jail and placed on 18 months probation after pleading guilty in Summerside provincial court, Monday, on a charge of breach of probation.

 

Justin Collicutt failed to contact his probation officer between Oct. 28, 2013 and Jan. 27, 2014 after repeated attempts by the probation office to contact him.

In handing down the sentence Provincial Court Judge Jeff Lantz said a probation orders are “court orders and it is expected for people to comply with those.”

Collicutt was also ordered to pay a victim fine surcharge of $100.
