Basic Income Guarantee

CHARLOTTETOWN -- The P.E.I. Working Group for a Livable Income has scheduled three community workshops on the Basic Income Guarantee (BIG), a plan to ensure individuals and families have a decent income.

The workshops will the held on Tuesday, April 22 at École Saint-Augustin, South Rustico, April 23 at Silver Threads Club in Souris and April 24 at the Community Centre, O’Leary. All workshops  start at 6:30 p.m. and run to 8:30. There is no cost to attend and refreshments will be available.

The working group suggests BIG would use the tax system to boost incomes above the poverty line and bring dignity to peoples’ lives and lead to better health and well. The group believes P.E.I. would be an ideal location for a BIG pilot project.

Organizations: Silver Threads Club, Community Centre
