ALBERTON -- Repair crews continue to whittle away at power outages caused by Monday’s ice storm, as of 4:20 p.m. the number of customers without power had dropped to 40, which is down from 171 at 5:45 a.m. Thursday and from 1,800 early Wednesday morning.
There were an estimated 15,000 customers without power on Monday evening.
The number was dropping at a slower rate on Thursday, because crews were dealing most of the day with individual outages as compared with repairs the previous day that could get 200 or more customers on line with one repair and a flick of a switch. At one point Thursday afternoon, however, crews were called back to O’Leary when a distribution line went down there.
The utility is expressing hope the remaining 40 customers will all have had their power restored by midnight tonight.
