The funeral for one of the victims of the tragic fire in Charlottetown over the weekend will be held today in Cardigan.

The late Brandon (Bmack) MacKinnon.

“With grieving hearts the family announces the tragic loss of Brandon MacKinnon “Bmack”, age 15, of St. Teresa,” the family announced in the teenager’s obituary.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. at All Saint’s Church.

The Grade 9 student from Montague Intermediate was with three friends in an abandoned property on Mount Edward Road in Charlottetown when it somehow caught fire overnight and claimed the lives of MacKinnon, Kenneth Cameron Irving, 15, of Peters Road and Jospeph Allison Reeves, 19, of Montague.

The funeral for Irving will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home Chapel. Visting hours will be held Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Kenneth will be greatly missed by his family and all who came to know and love him,” the family said in the death notice.

The funeral for Reeves will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ in Montague. Visiting hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ferguson Logan Funeral Home here.

The lone survivor of the fire, a Grade 10 student at Montague Regional High School, remains in hospital in Halifax. He was burned badly before fleeing from the early morning fire.

Montague Regional High School principal Seana Evans-Renaud says students will be making cards to send to their classmate when they get back to school.

“We are just trying to get through the wakes, funerals and storms,’’ she said in an email to The Guardian.

P.E.I. chief coroner Dr. Charles Trainor says his investigation continues.

“It’s going to take another day or two before we have results of toxicology and other testing,’’ he said.

Charlottetown Police Services did not have any update Tuesday in its ongoing investigation.

Deputy Chief Gary McGuigan said Monday after releasing the names of the deceased that police are now focusing on determining a time line of events on the four youths leading up to the tragic event.

At this point police do not suspect foul play.
