Roads in western P.E.I. are becoming quite snow covered, and the strong winds are causing many whiteout conditions, says West Prince district RCMP.

January is picking up where December left off. Friday saw near whiteout conditions on Water Street in downtown Summerside. City crews are busy keeping up with the snowfall and keeping roads and sidewalks clear.

Most roads in West Prince are ice covered at the present time, says Cst. Phil Skeffington."Several of the roads are extremely slick, almost ice-rink conditions."

Motorists are advised to stay off the roads unless it is an emergency, and use caution and extreme care if they do venture out on the highways.
