SUMMERSIDE – Summerside Police Services are reporting a relatively quiet storm night.

Summerside Police Services

Police Chief David Porier reported only one item of note overnight Wednesday, and it was not directly related to the massive spring storm that blew through the area at the same time.

At about 1 p.m. Wednesday police were called regarding a break and enter that happened on North Market Street.

Someone broke in through the back door of the home, meanwhile the homeowner was arriving home.

The burglar and owner struggled until the suspect fled.

A 28-year-old Summerside man was arrested by police a short time and distance away.

The man faces charges of breaking and entering, and could face more charges on an unrelated matter. Police believe that this was an isolated incident.

There were no injuries sustained by anyone involved.

The suspect is being held in custody until a court date can be arranged.

Porier said other than this one incident, most people seemed to have heeded warnings to stay home and out of the storm.
