SUMMERSIDE- For the second day in a row much of P.E.I. is shut down due to an early spring blizzard that ripped through the area Wednesday and into Thursday.

All Island schools, including Holland College and UPEI have closed for the day. As have all civil services.

Island police are still asking people to stay off the roads. Blowing snow is still causing visibility issues across the province and much of the road system remains uncleared.

Road clearing crews were not out working for most of the night, as conditions were just too dangerous.

Some plows are starting to get back on the roads, however, drivers are still asked to stay home and allow crews to do their work.

The Confederation Bridge had also been closed for several hours but has now reopened to some vehicles.

All non-emergency surgeries at the QEH are being postponed.

City of Summerside has already closed all non-emergency services until at least noon.

The remnants of yesterday's storm are expected to continue to dissipate today. Blizzard warnings have now ended for all three counties, however, wind warnings are still in place for the Island. Some areas will continue to see gusts of up to 100 km/h throughout the day and into the evening.
