RCMP respond to armed robbery in New Annan

NEW ANNAN – East Prince RCMP was busy Saturday night, responding to an armed robbery call in New Annan.

Just before 9 p.m., a lone male walked into the Irving Gas Bar in New Annan and demanded cash and cigarettes from the store attendant. The perpetrator made off with an undisclosed amount of both. The attendant was not harmed.

RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating the incident. There is no working description to release to the public yet, as the police continue to work with witnesses to piece together the details of the crime.

RCMP will have more details to release to the public on Monday. In the meantime, police are asking the public to provide any details pertaining to the crime. Anyone with potential details is asked to call their local RCMP detachment, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to possibly qualify for a cash reward up to $2,000.
