SUMMERSIDE – A 22-year-old Montague man was given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay restitution to a Summerside bank after pleading guilty in Summerside provincial court to a charge of fraud.

Darcy Robert Gray deposited an empty bank envelope in the cash machine at the Bank of Montreal on June 17 falsely registering that it contained $100.

He then attempted to withdraw the funds but only received $60 because the account was overdrawn by $39.91.

In handing down the suspended sentence, Judge Jeff Lantz placed Gray on 12 months probation and ordered him to make restitution to the Bank of Montreal in the amount of $60.
