Students showcasing trades skills

ELMSDALE -- Students in secondary and post-secondary programs are busy demonstrating their abilities this week in Skills P.E.I. competitions being held across P.E.I.

On Wednesday the competitions were held in West Prince. Holland College West Prince Centre played host to the outdoor power equipment competition for secondary level students while Westisle Composite High School hosted competitions at the secondary level for electronics, job skills demonstration, prepared speech and job interview and secondary and post secondary competitions for hairstyling.

The venue shifts to Holland College Waterfront Center on Thursday for secondary level competitions in aerospace Essential, workplace safety, mechatronics, auto service, cabinetmaking, carpentry and electrical wiring and a post secondary competition in automation and control. On Friday the waterfront campus hosts seven post-secondary competitions: auto service, cabinetmaking, refrigeration, precision machining, IT office application, mechatronics and CNC machining. A post-secondary carpentry competition will be held Saturday at the Charlottetown Civic Center.
