Oh Baby Bay supporting the IWK Children’s Hospital

SUMMERSIDE – What started as an idea to host a small event to provide moms and moms-to-be with information on all things maternity and baby, has turned into the must attend baby event in P.E.I.

Paula Pickering of Kensington expecting her second child in May; Laurel Coady; Jo-Ann Duncan, Murphy's Pharmacies Summerside; Katie Champion of Kensington, mom-to-be in April; and Lauren Campbell, Murphy's Pharmacies Summerside; are promoting that tickets are now available for the Oh Baby Bay showcase. The second annual Oh Baby Baby! will take place on Sunday, March 30, at the Confederation Centre of the Arts and it’s on track to be bigger and better than last year.

“I came up with the idea last fall when I was expecting,” said founder and co-organizer Lynn Anne Hogan.  “When you get engaged, there are a ton of bridal shows to pick from, but P.E.I. didn’t offer any events for moms and moms-to-be.”

Hogan contacted a couple of friends who quickly came on board and the planning began.

“Our goal was simple, deliver a great event and raise as much money as we could for the IWK, but it quickly turned in to something much bigger,” said Hogan.

In 2013, Oh Baby Baby! sold out before the doors even opened. Guests (you don’t have to be a mom to attend) were treated to speakers, goodie bags, fashions shows, the opportunity to learn about local businesses and a chance to win prizes.

Last year the event raised $5,130 for the IWK.

Hogan said this year’s event has some exciting additions, including a baby wearing work-shop from 10 to 11:30 a.m., double the number of vendors (viewing opens at 11 a.m.), a new presenting sponsor and a nutrition break sponsored by Sobey’s West Royalty.

Bringing Nurtured Products for Parenting out of Halifax on as a presenting sponsor has allowed the committee to expand the event and elevate the experience.

Ticket are $20 and are available online at www.nurtured.ca and at the Parkdale and Summerside Murphy’s Pharmacies locations. Also on Facebook by searching Oh Baby Baby!
