Furnace Oil...Now $1.213 / liter! - If you have the average 910 liter home oil tank, it now costs $1,139.91 (tax in) for that 910 liters of heating oil. If you have a two storey house that has approximately 1,700 square feet of heated living space...EVEN with a high effeciency (new) water boiler, new windows & insulation...the heating cost for that family's home will now likely average around $688.96 (about 550 liters)> including that rediculous $.02 discount per liter every 5 weeks, in the dead of winter or a winter like this any ways. That's just plain criminal and unmanageable for most. By the way if you have a house (with the same renovations as above) the same size house on one level with forced air heat...the oil bill will generally be the same as hot water heat, because that heat is quick but fleeting in nature. I know because I was in Real Estate for years. Either way the silence; the indifference from the provincial goverments & the this "Oil Based", Alberta western based federal goverment is effectually a criminal offence against Tens of Thousands (possibly millions) of hard working Canadians & Islanders just trying to get by. This is not just normal "business" practices at work. This is not just the "Commodities market place at work". This is unrestrained, unregulated greed - supported, through blindness, stupidity, or complicity by our federal government. What's most interesting is that Islanders, Canadians continue to take it, and have allowed themselves to be "educated" to believe this is the way it has to be! Amazing.
