O’LEARY -- Close to 150 volunteers were entertained, fed and praised during the Community of O’Leary’s appreciation night Saturday at O’Leary Legion.

Volunteers from the hospital foundation and its fundraising campaign, the fire department, museum, Lions Club, legion and other organizations were in attendance, as well as volunteers who help out in a variety of ways in the community. Several volunteers with sports organizations, including those who helped out with the highly successful Under 16 Girls Canadian Fast Pitch championship last summer were in attendance and acknowledged for their contribution to the growth and health of their community.

During the appreciation night O’Leary Community Council presented a plaque and a gift to Tylan Robinson who recently stepped down from his role of recreation director. He held the position for nine years and helped coordinate volunteer participation that council chair Stanley MacDonald and Western Region Sport and Recreation coordinator JoAnne Wallace stressed is so essential to the community’s growth.
