NORBORO – East Prince RCMP and Kensington Fire Department were on scene early Saturday morning in Norboro, after a log truck lost its load on Route 2.

A crew cleans up the mess after a log truck rolled over on Route 2 near Norboro on Saturday morning.

The dual-trailer truck was travelling west just after 7 a.m., when the rear trailer struck the side of the road, about a kilometre shy of Blue Shank Road. The driver lost control, and the rear trailer tipped, spilling logs – some more than a foot in diameter – across the highway.

Shortly after emergency crews arrived, the highway was reduced to one lane of traffic, with flagmen on either side. However, to assist with the cleanup, Department of Highways officials showed up and closed the road just before 10 a.m.

Cleanup was left to the responsibility of the driver, and the route was open again within 30 minutes.

RCMP is still investigating the incident, and has no further details at this time.
