Ellis family, car business deliver big cheque

Summerside Chrysler Dodge and its owners, the Ellis family, are platinum level donors to the O’Leary Community Health Foundation’s Community CARES campaign. O’LEARY -- The O’Leary Community Health Foundation has its first Platinum level sponsor in its campaign to raise $450,000 for a new X-ray machine for Community Hospital. Summerside Chrysler Dodge and its owners, the Warren Ellis family, reached platinum donor status with a gift of $50,000.

The Community CARES (Can Advance with (x)-Ray Equipment Services) Campaign is winding down and the Foundation is hopeful of achieving its objective by the time it hosts a St. Patrick’s Day-themed wrap-up dinner at the O’Leary Legion on March 8.

    Thanks for pointing that out, previous posters. The problem is that no one wants to "rock the boat" and upset anyone with any semblance of financial power in PEI. Sadly this includes many in the media. I'm not saying the Ellis' don't contribute very generously to the charitable environment on the Island--they do. But with the monies they have received from government over the years lining their pockets (and what they oh-so-subtly-coerce out of those wanting to do business with them) they most certainly can afford to do so.

    why would they not make themselves look very generous--the pei goverment gave the ellis family almost 4 million dollars to farm--where is the farm?--they are only giving back some of the money they got from the goverment

    great idea. but when are your family going to pay back the multi millions you owe the tax payers of PEI?

    I guess that's part of the $3.7 Million Dollars our government gave them last year. If they were using their own money I would congratulate them, but when it's our money they are using,no.
