Office located in Repeats building in Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN — The fire Tuesday at Repeats Quality Used Clothing has prompted the indefinite closure of the Arthritis Society’s office, which is located in the same building.

A notice from the society, issued late Tuesday afternoon, said its office would remain closed until further notice.

The public is asked to contact the Nova Scotia division office at (902) 429-7025 or email Sarah Drew at sdrew@arthritis.ca for any assistance required.

Capital firefighters responded to the blaze at the building located on 95 Capital Drive at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. The fire is believed to have started in Repeats’ laundry room.

Staff used fire extinguishers onsite to try and put out the fire while waiting for fire crews to arrive.

The owner, Nadine Ramsay, told TC Media she fears that due to heavy smoke damage none of the clothing inside the store would be salvageable.

She has $70,000 in insurance coverage but estimates the clothing and large assortment of theatrical and Halloween costumes in stock are valued at $150,000 to $200,000.
