At 9:30 p.m., Prince District RCMP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Route 107 in Wilmot Valley.

RCMP intercepted the vehicle and the female driver displayed signs of impairment.

The investigating officer called upon the skills of a drug recognition expert to assist with the investigation. After the expert completed the required tests it was determined that the 21-year-old woman was impaired by drugs.

She was released from custody and will appear in court on April 17 in Summerside to answer to the charge of impaired driving by drugs.

RCMP are reminding the driving public that the improper or illegal use of prescription medication and/or the use of illegal drugs may cause a driver to be impaired, which could result in criminal charges.
