SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside technical services committee has cleared the way for city council to approve a multi-million dollar development project along Central Street and Pope Road.
The project calls for the construction of two 24-aparment buildings at an estimated cost of $2.8 million per building.
Developer David Yeo said the project will initially involve only one building.
“When we have occupancy on that, then we’ll start the second building,” he said. “We would like to start the middle of April or May 1, depending on the weather.”
Yeo said each building will be three-stories high with apartments ranging in size from 1,000 square feet to 1,250 square feet. These will be two and three bedroom units some with two baths others with one.
“They are a moderate to high-end building,” Yeo said. “It’s for seniors or semi-seniors who want to sell their homes but who don’t want to leave the community. That’s our market place.”
The issue will go before city council on Tuesday, Feb 18 for approval.
