Supporters urged to sign up now to maximize benefits from fundraising
Fun. Freedom. Oh, to be a kid again; but not every child has the opportunity. Signing up for the 2014 Big Briothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake, on Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, helps local children create their own, special childhood memories.
Big Brothers Big Sisters makes a difference in our community. The organization provides children in need with one-to-one mentoring services that are proven to help kids stay in school, avoid risky behavior such as bullying, and grow up to be more civic-minded adults. Every time a mentor pairs with a child, a life-changing relationship starts, built on friendship, trust and empowerment, so children can reach their full potential.
Supporting Bowl for Kids Sake is as easy as creating a team with 4 or 5 of your co-workers, friends, or family. BBBSPEI provides pledge sheets, raffle tickets, and fundraising support for the many creative ways participants use to work together to raise money. Bowlers who raise $125 will receive a Bowl for Kids Sake T-shirt, a spot on the Wall of Fame, and a chance to win 2 tickets to anywhere Air Canada flies in North America! (includes Mexico, Hawaii, and the Caribbean).
On Bowl for Kids Sake weekend, teams will celebrate their success with 75 minutes of free bowling, Subway submarine sandwiches, Pepsi products and the chance to win great prizes.
Participating in Bowl for Kids Sake 2014 makes a real difference in the community. Creating a new Big Brothers Big Sisters match costs roughly $1200, estimate organizers. If everyone on a team raises $125, the team could cover more than half the cost of a match, they calculate. Aiming for $250 would make Matchmakers of the team.
The dedication and hard work of Bowl for Kids Sake participants will have a transformative affect on young lives, organizers predict. BBBS mentoring programs generate an average social return on investment (measurable social value) of $18 for every dollar invested. That leverage on the money raised creates a huge impact in the community.
There is no time to spare if you want to be involved in this great community event, remind organizers. For more information or to register a team, call 569-KIDS, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
