Canadian team marches into opening ceremonies of Sochi Olympics

SOCHI, RUSSIA – The Canadian Olympic team walked onto the world stage Friday dressed in the Hudson’s Bay official parade uniforms.

Led, by Hayley Wickenheiser, Canada’s flag bearer, the Canadian athletes make up the third largest contingent at this year’s 22nd Olympic Games.

Among them is Heather Moyse, the Summerside athlete, competing in bobsled, who marched in near the front of the Canadian contingent with other previous medal winners. Moyse, who is the brakeman, was directly behind her teammate and bobsled pilot Kaillie Humphries. The two won gold at the Olympic Games in Vanouver, B.C. in 2010.

The Olympics opening ceremonies took place in the Fisht Stadiumin in Sochi, Russia.
