SUMMERSIDE - The City of Summerside Ice Skating Oval at Queen Elizabeth Ball Park is now ready for all residents and visitors to enjoy.

Skating is free for everyone and the Oval is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is well lit at night by all of the surrounding street lighting.

The Oval is 400 meters long and takes approximately 750 gallons of water to flood. It is scraped and flooded daily to maintain as good an ice skating surface as possible.

Park benches are provided for putting skates on and taking them off. Food and beverages are permitted in Queen Elizabeth Ball Park but while skating on the oval.

Code of Conduct Rules and Regulations regarding the use of the oval including the use of helmets are posted on site.

Curran and Briggs Limited loans the city their water truck to build and maintain the oval.

Now that the ice skating oval is up and running, the city will begin transform former tennis court in Schurman Park, located next to Queen Elizabeth Ball Park, to an outdoor ice hockey rink. More details to come when it is up and running.

I believe there is a typo: Did you mean to say "Food and beverages are permitted in Queen Elizabeth Ball Park but "NOT" while skating on the oval?
