Simms lecture to highlight International Development Week Feb. 3-7

CHARLOTTETOWN – Master storyteller, Laura Simms will be a special guest for UPEI’s International Development Week, Feb. 3 to 7.

Simms is a recipient of the Brimstone Award for Engaged Storytelling, the CHOICE award for best story collection and Sesame Street’s Sunny Days award for her work with children worldwide. She will present a lecture, "Healing Through Story," in the Alex H. MacKinnon Auditorium, Don and Marion McDougall Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 6.

A reception and book signing will follow in Schurman Market Square.

Tickets to the lecture are available for $20.

Simms is the mother of Ishmael Beah, former child soldier from Sierra Leone, and author of "A Long Way Gone," an international bestseller.
