The man was brought to the West Prince detachment where he failed the breath test. He was released on pending charges for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in Summerside provincial court in February.

Just a few hours earlier, a 54 year-old O’Leary man was issued a seven-day driving suspension after a traffic stop on Main Street in O'Leary. The driver showed signs of impairment and was required to provide a roadside breath sample, which resulted in the suspension.

Combating impaired driving is a high priority for RCMP on the Island and members of the general public are encouraged to report suspected impaired or erratic driving so that police can follow-up and stop this dangerous practice.
