Islanders invited to offer their ideas for the 2014 budget

CHARLOTTETOWN – The provincial government is looking for feedback from Islanders into the 2014-2015 budget.

“There are always great discussions at our pre-budget consultation roundtables,” said Finance Minister Wes Sheridan. “We want to continue the conversation around the best ways to reach a balanced budget. Are we allocating funding to programs and services in a way that is aligned with the priorities of Islanders? Are there ways to save?  If taxes were reduced, how would we offset the increased deficit?

Anyone interested in participating in one of these pre-budget roundtables can register by phoning 620-3679 before Jan. 30.

The consultation sessions will run from 2 to 4 p.m. as follows:

● Feb. 5, Summerside (storm date of Feb. 18);

● Feb. 6, Charlottetown (storm date of Feb. 19);

● Feb. 12, Alberton (storm date of Feb. 20); and

● Feb. 13, Souris (storm date of Feb. 21).

There will be interpretation services at the Summerside session for those wanting to participate in French.
