ALBERTON -- The Mayor of Alberton has assured members of the town’s business community of better coordination of snow removal services in future storms.

The town scheduled a special meeting with business people Monday to review their complaints from previous storms ands to look for solutions.

In the end, Mayor Michael Murphy conceded better coordination and communication between the town’s maintenance staff and the snow removal contracted by the province to clean town streets, Matthews Lime Services.

Mayor Murphy concluded the town’s staff needs to get out earlier and get the snow out into the street from the parking area along Main Street so that the contractor can push it down the street and out of the way. Getting the town lot, behind Save Easy, open earlier was also seen as a priority.

“Hopefully you folks won’t be inconvenienced with any more of this here snow removal stuff. If you are, feel free to phone me,” Murphy encouraged the dozen businesspeople in attendance.
