Storm warnings for many areas of Atlantic Canada for Friday means thousands of ticket holders in a regional fundraising lottery of the Canadian Red Cross will have to wait a few more days to learn whether they’ve won a major prize.

The draw  for the Canadian Red Cross’ annual Lotomania grand prize worth $50,000 in cash and merchandise as well as for a 50-50 feature and other main prizes were scheduled to take place at Red Cross offices in Dartmouth, N.S., on Friday, Jan. 3, but have been postponed to Monday, Jan. 6, with permission from lottery regulatory agencies in each of the four Atlantic provinces.

Ticket sales for the annual lottery, proceeds of which support disaster services and other programs of the Canadian Red Cross in the Atlantic region, closed on Dec. 23. Major prize winners are notified by telephone after the draw and all other winners are notified by mail.

Results are also published online at the lottery website, livefreeforayear.ca.
