SUMMERSIDE — A 19-year-old Travellers Rest man was recently sentenced to four days behind bars after pleading guilty in Summerside provincial court to impaired driving.

Police stopped Codie James Chapman on Nov. 2. He showed signs of impairment and agreed to a breathalyzer demand, providing readings more than double the legal limit. He had no previous record.

Judge Jeff Lantz noted during sentencing the lowest reading of 190 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood was well above the aggravating limit of 160.

In addition to time in jail, Chapman is prohibited from driving for a year, must pay at $1,300 and was ordered to pay a $390 victim surcharge.
