Two vehicle collision on Route 12 early Saturday evening

ALBERTON - Two people were sent to hospital as a result of a two vehicle collision on Rte. 12 near Union Road, Rte. 152.

RCMP Constable David Brown reported that one person was sent to Western Hospital in Alberton, while the second was transported to Prince County Hospital in Summerside. Speaking from the scene, he characterized the injuries as minor and indicated that further information was unavailable.

Cst. Brown attributed the collision to poor road conditions. He also renewed a call for safer driving, following an advisory of snow and slippery conditions Saturday morning.

"When the speed limit is posted at 80, that doesn't mean you have to dirve that speed," he emphasized.

"Drive to the conditions of the roadway," he cautioned, meaning slow down when highways are affected by weather or other adverse conditions.

Route 12 was controlled for a short time while the vehicles were removed, and traffic is again flowing normally.
