While a number of their fellow Canadians elsewhere in the country set out in search of Boxing Day bargains today at big box stores and shopping malls shoppers, Prince Edward Island bargain seekers have another day at home digesting leftover turkey and enjoying relative peace and quiet.
Retail stores in P.E.I. remained closed today, in keeping with the provisions of the Retail Business Holidays Act.
Shoppers in search of bargains in the province today will have to find them online.
And many will spend part of the day browsing websites for retailers like Future Shop, Staples, The Source, Sears, Indigo, The Brick, Leon's, Wal-Mart and Amazon in hopes of saving big dollars on select items.
Electronics, home décor, books, movies and music will be high on their lists.
When consumers here do hit the stores on Friday they will be well prepared.
Today's issue of The Guardian carried Boxing Day sale ads from a number of local, regional and national retailers and Boxing Day flyers went out just before Christmas.
It should be noted that some retailers will be opening early on Friday.
Hours for those retailers are posted on their respective ads, sales flyers and/or websites.
