ALBERTON -- Just a few days ago Fr. Art Pendergast and Austin Bernard were worried they would not be able to fill their Christmas turkey quota.

For the last few years the two men have been coordinating the West Prince distribution of turkeys from the annual CBC turkey drive.

“Our quota was 225 turkeys,” Bernard said.

Because of Wednesday’s storm, the turkey drive was extended until Thurssday and by noon they had already surpassed their objective.

They distribute the turkeys to the Christmas hamper programs of Sacred Heart Alberton, St. Anthony’s Woodstock, Immaculate Conception Palmer Road and St. Simon and St. Jude Tignish churches, Kids Weste and West Prince Family Violence Prevention.

Because they exceeded their objective, Bernard said they would also be able to provide about eight turkeys each to West Prince Caring Cupboard’s three depots and still have a few left over for emergencies
