SUMMERSIDE - The Summerside Department of Community Services is bringing back an all inclusive recreation guide for the city.

Councillor Jim Steele

Councillor Jim Steele, chairman of the city’s community services committee said he anticipates the recreation guide to be out by mid-January.

“The recreation guide will hopefully become the city’s one-stop-shop for recreation and leisure in the community,” Steele said. “All local groups and organizations are welcome and encouraged to include information in this community guide.”

Steele said anyone wishing to be included in the recreation guide should contact the department at 432-1234.

Steele said the department is preparing for some major events at Credit Union Place in 2014.

“The Community Services Department is preparing for a very busy 2014 with the hosting of many great events such as Blue Rodeo, Chicago, Gordon Lightfoot, and coming in May, the return of the Grand Slam of Curling,” he said.

Steele said Credit Union Place continues to be widely used by the general public.

“New memberships, 219 and the current membership since Nov. 6 is 1,366,” he said. “Walking track visits, 5,117, pool visits 10,112, fit stop visits, 4,126, squash court visits, 539, fitness class participants 668, bowling games played, 3,669. Total recreation visits, 25,860.”

Not hard to tell election year approaching. To bad the Councillor and others weren't so forthcoming about the Concert Fiasco and the Hopping Report instead of covering up what really happened and protecting the very ones who caused us to lose app 3 million dollars. And yes Jim we did not forget all the promises you made, than fall into the gang of five who cover the truth. I think the gang of five has had their last term. Hopefully

Blue Rodeo, Gordon Lightfoot, and the Grand Slam of Curling are all big things to make the annual schedule look good but there is another annual tradition on the calendar. The dismissal of the Community Services Director. Corkrum, Schurman, Morgan, Dunn..... so watch out JP. Don't trust this bunch too closely

  • Is there an app for that?
