PRINCE COUNTY – Heavy snow and blowing snow, between 15 and 25 cm, is expected today in Prince County.

A low pressure system that was southwest of Nova Scotia Tuesday evening was predicted to intensify as it tracked northeastward.

Snow ahead of this system will begin over the island early this morning and continue all day before tapering to flurries this evening. Strong northeasterlies will develop this afternoon creating reduced visibilities in blowing snow.

The English and French Language School Boards have been closed for the day, as have UPEI and Holland College. 

O'Leary Community Health Foundation has decided to postpone their annual memorial tree lighting ceremony, due to inclement weather, until Thursday Dec. 19, 7 p.m. at Community Hospital O'Leary.

*Harbourfront Theatre has closed for the day. 

*Mi'kmaq Confederacy offices closed.

*Summerside offices closed.

*Island Optical is closed.

*Credit Union Place is closed for the day.

*Summerside Transit is off the road.
