SUMMERSIDE – Final decisions on a proposed expansion to the Lefurgey subdivision and an unsightly property on Sheen Street are on the agenda for tonight’s city council meeting.

Council is expected to approve the subdivision expansion that will see a petition from D&D Development for a zoning amendment to change the area from single-family residential to low mixed residential to allow for 17 semi-detached building consisting of 34 individual units.

Council is also expected to give the go ahead to demolish a hazardous property at 506 Sheen Street.

The building has been vacant for a number of years and has become a home to drug users, rats and raccoons. The last registered owner of the property has died and the city has been unable to find anyone who has title to the building.

Under financial services, council will be dealing with two resolutions. The first will be for a change in mobile services for then city and the second will be a resolution on the closures of regional officers of Veterans’ Affairs Canada.

An amendment to the Election Bylaw will receive first reading approval and then be referred to the legal affairs committee for review and recommendation.

There will also be reports from the eight committees of council on the activities of each municipal department.

The December council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.
