SUMMERSIDE — It’s off to the finals for the Summerside Boys and Girls Club.

They did it! The Summerside Boys and Girls’ Club submission in the Aviva Community Fund competition has made it to the finals. Celebrating making it to the finals are Angee Arsenault (on the ladder), Chelsea Moulins, D'Arcy Ellis (front left), Ryan Campbell and Donald Blacquiere.

It is now up to the judges if the club’s submission in the Aviva Community Fund competition receives $150,000 for its Youth Engagement Centre Project.

Once the official tally was tabulated after voting closed last Wednesday, the club’s Youth Engagement Centre Project, to the surprise of those working busily behind the scenes to drum up support, garnered enough votes to get into the finals.

“We want to thank all 3,295 of our supporters for voting and spreading the word about our project! We would not have made it this far without all of you,” said the club’s youth program director Angee Arsenault. “Thank for believing in us and the YEC Project.”

Before the judges decide on the winners, the club will have a final chance to update its idea and answer questions from the Aviva team.

On Dec. 18, all ideas are forwarded to the judges.

For more information on the judges’ criteria, visit http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/about/judging.

The club qualifies for the grand prize in the “large” category, which is $150,000, and for the At-Risk Youth Prize and the Broker's Pick Prize, which are also worth $150,000 each.

These prizes can be awarded in whole to an idea, but can also be divided and distributed in portions to more than one idea.

All prizes will be announced on Jan. 28.

Arsenault said if the club is one of the winners, Aviva representatives may be on site for a live reveal when the announcement is made.

She added that the Aviva Community Fund page is still live and people are still able to log in to see the details of the club’s idea and the public is also able to donate to the idea through the site as well.
