Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for all of Prince Edward Island.
"This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions and listen for updated statements," Environment Canada warns.
A low pressure system over the southern United States is expected to intensify as it tracks northeastward today. This system will move off the East Coast of the United States Sunday morning and then pass just south of Cape Breton Sunday evening. This system is expected to bring significant snowfall and strong northeasterly winds on Sunday.
Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected across the Island. The snow will be accompanied by strong northeasterly winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour giving reduced visibilities in blowing snow.
Those planning travel or other weather sensitive activities on Sunday are advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings.
