TIGNISH -- The containers of cooking oil and other material that had been stored on a former bakery in Tignish and causing concern for local residents have been cleaned up, sewer and water committee chair Joey Carragher reported.

“It does look good,” Carragher advised council on the results of about three weeks of work on the property.

“I’ve had some comments on it from some community people, saying they are some glad it is finally cleaned up.”

The municipality bore the cost of the clean-up, $1,197.
