Kensington fire department responds to nine calls in November

KENSINGTON — The Kensington Fire Department responded to nine calls in November, including a car fire, structure fire and a single-vehicle rollover.

Kensingtown town council's fire committee chairman Coun. Rodney Mann delivered the November committee report during Monday night’s monthly council meeting.

The average attendance for the fire calls was 14 firefighters.

The following is the breakdown of calls:

—   Nov. 4 — Car fire on Garden Drive. Ten men and one truck responded.

—   Nov. 5 — Fire alarm on Shipyard Road. Six men. Cancelled at station.

—   Nov. 5 — Structure fire on Nodd Road. False alarm.

—   Nov. 7 — Smoke spotted in structure in New Annan. Furnace malfunction.

—   Nov. 9 — Two car collision on Hamilton Road. Two trucks and 18 firefighters responded.

—   Nov. 16 — Medical first responders to Broadway Street with 11 firefighters and one truck.

—   Nov. 19 — Flue fire in Indian River with 11 firefighters and two trucks.

—   Nov. 23 — Single-vehicle rollover on Blue Shank Road with 18 firefighters and one truck responding.

—   Nov. 28 — Utility pole fire at the post office with 14 firefighters and one truck responding.

On Nov. 3, two of the department’s deputy chiefs attended the P.E.I. Firefighters Association annual meeting in Tignish, while, on Nov. 13, the department hosted the Central Area Mutual Aid group meeting at the station.
