Number of Islanders without power shrinking

Maritime Electric says it has reduced the number of customers without power to 800 across Prince Edward Island.

Maritime Electric spokeswoman Kim Griffin announced that number in a 7:55 a.m. news release today.

She said crews working between midnight and 6 a.m. had restored 335 customers, leaving the 800 figure.

Communities without power included Cascumpec, Campbellton, Bloomfield, Cape Wolfe,North Carleton,Augustine Cove, Cape Traverse, New London, Grahams Road and Canavoy, although some of them may be with power now.

Electric power supply to Islanders was off and on all day Wednesday and overnight.
