“The key focus for the board this year… is to develop a strategic plan which is a comprehensive process. And one part of that process will be meeting with the chairs of the various school councils or home and school associations,” superintendent Cynthia Fleet said. “It gives us the opportunity through those meetings to speak directly with parent representatives who are involved in the school councils and hone and school associations.”
Fleet said there is a schedule of eight different sessions across the province set for November and December.
“That will give us an opportunity to engage in a discussion with the group which will consist of the chair (of the committee) and as well, the board chair will sit in as many as is convenient for him.”
Fleet told the trustees they are invited to sit in on as many sessions as they want.
“It will be a good group for us to engage in our discussions with the home and school associations about the work they are doing and how we can move together to improve student achievement in the school district through our strategic plan,” Fleet said. “That’s going to be a process that we won’t be seeing until January or February. I really appreciate the trustees being interested in attending some of those sessions and give you the opportunity to speak to parents.”
