Dr. Anthony Campolo will be the guest speaker at Trinity United Church on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m.
SUMMERSIDE - Dr. Anthony “Tony” Campolo, an American sociologist, pastor, author, public speaker and former spiritual advisor to U.S. President Bill Clinton will be preaching at Trinity United Church on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m.
Dr. Campolo is known as one of the most influential leaders in the Evangelical left and has been a major proponent of progressive thought and reform within the evangelical community. He has also become a leader of the Red-Letter Christian movement, which aims to put emphasis on the teachings of Jesus.
Dr. Campolo’s sermon will be titled Love Changes Everything. World Vision has co-sponsored Dr. Campolo’s trip to help kickoff Trinity United’s campaign to twin with San Pedro Yepocapa, Gauatemala. It is the hope of Trinity, through child sponsorships to provide community education centres where children can get the stimulation and preschool training that they need, start backyard gardens and raise small animals to diversify the family diet and improve their income, provide vocational workshops to help families develop new skills and expand medical clinics to train mothers in nutrition and preventative health care.
It is the hope of Trinity’s Faith in Action Committee that other churches, groups and individuals will join with us to assist in this project. The service will be broadcast live and will be accessible to the community at website: http://ustre.am/bsNQ. Summerside Community Church will be having Dr. Campolo’s address as part of their service – other churches have indicated that they might carry his message on a taped basis. This is the first time that Summerside churches have collaborated to share a Pastor’s message electronically.
