CORNWALL – Two Island men face charges after the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit executed a pair of search warrants.
On Sept. 10, officers conducted a search of a residence in Cornwall. A man was arrested without incident at the scene and officers seized computers and other computer-related items related to the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old resident of Cornwall will appear in P.E.I. provincial court on Nov. 4 to answer to charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.
In a separate investigation, on Sept. 4, an 18-year-old resident of Stratford was also arrested for Possession of Child Pornography after a search of his residence.
During the search, RCMP members seized computer equipment that contained child pornography images. The Stratford man will also be appearing in provincial court on Nov. 4 to answer to charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography.
The Mounties say they are continually working towards efficient ways to identify and charge those that prey on vulnerable children “in the horrible crime of child exploitation and pornography.”
Often police agencies are partnering in order to keep up with the technological advances of criminals and say it's necessary to continually adapt methods to catch offenders and protect children.
