SUMMERSIDE — It was a busy couple of days for Summerside police, with an impaired driving arrest, an arrest in connection with vandalism to a mailbox and vehicle, and investigations into a hit-and-run collision and thefts from vehicles.
Early Sunday morning, a 20-year-old Poplar Grove man was arrested in the city for impaired driving. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Summerside provincial court at a later date.
Sunday afternoon, police responded to a complaint of a man vandalizing a mailbox and vehicle in the Brockville Street area.
As a result, an 18-year-old Wilmot Valley man was arrested and later taken to Prince County Hospital for psychiatric assessment.
Monday morning, police responded to a complaint of a theft from a vehicle on Acadian Avenue. The culprit stole a Blackberry Q10.
Police responded to five complaints of thefts from unlocked vehicles throughout the city over the weekend.
Police remind the public to keep their vehicles locked and valuables out of view while left unattended.
Police are looking for the public’s help in its investigation of a hit-and-run collision on Harvard Street Monday night.
A 2010 Dodge Caravan was damaged in the incident.
The run vehicle is described as an older style Jeep Liberty with a broken taillight and a tire on the back of the vehicle.
