MIMINEGASH -- RCMP in West Prince have charged three males from the O’Leary area with a Saturday morning break-in at a Miminegash convenience store.
Police believe a stolen vehicle was used to drive the accused, an adult and two youth, to and from Deagle’s Quick Mart. RCMP had located the vehicle, abandoned and burnt, near O’Leary prior to being alerted to the break.
The break occurred shortly after midnight Saturday morning but was not reported to police until the store opened for business that morning.
Corporal Scott Lundrigan said a trio has been charged with break, enter and theft, and indicated their investigation is still ongoing and further charges could be pending. Cigarettes and cash, allegedly stolen in the break, were not recovered.
Lundrigan said a small window was broken to gain entry to the store.
The break-in has generated considerable social media traffic, especially because the owner of the store has been hospitalized since a week prior to the incident.
A family member working at the store Monday declined comment on the matter.
